Named for the black volcanic sand of Costa Rica’s western coastline, the Hermosa Collection is evocative of the salty foam that lines the beach after waves crash onto the shore. This tumbler was made using an iron rich red stoneware clay. The surface was painted using a black clay slip, and then a white crawl glaze was hand poured over the surface to create the fluid wave-like pattern.
Each piece is one of a kind and made by hand. This tumbler began as a humble ball of clay that has been shaped on the wheel, trimmed, fired, waxed, glazed and then fired again.

Why handmade? For me, handmade pottery is a representation of slow living and minimalism. Forged from natural materials and shaped by the hands of the maker, each vessel reminds us to think about the origin of the piece and how it came to be in our hands.
All pieces have been handmade in Constance Bay using stoneware clay.
